Context

In Mokelumne Hill, The Butterfly Movement brought its community together to help shape the Butterfly Arts and Ecology Sanctuary. We joined them for the Becoming BAES gathering, documenting the people, the ideas, and the land.

Need

Photographic and drone coverage of the gathering.

Approach

The project combined event photographs, documentation of participant-created design boards, and drone footage. The photographs bring the day close: people greeting one another, spending time together, and contributing to the sanctuary’s future. The aerial footage adds the wider setting.

Together, the collection records both the gathering and the place at the center of it.
