Filming KIPP Team & Family's technology pilot through the teachers and children at the heart of it.
Starting with the people
We traveled to the East Coast to film KIPP Team & Family's PILOT story, a look at bringing new technology into schools with the goal of more personalized education.
We wanted to show what that change meant for the people involved: teachers preparing to bring new tools into their classrooms, and children excited about what they might make possible.
Preparation and possibility
Teacher preparedness was central to the story. The interviews gave educators room to share their perspective on introducing the technology and supporting their students through it.
The children's excitement brought a different energy. Keeping both in the film helped us tell a bright, positive story while showing the care and preparation behind the program.
The school around the story
Alongside the interviews, we captured drone footage to establish the surroundings. Moving between personal accounts and that wider view gave the film a sense of the school community around the pilot.
The technology was the starting point. The story was about teachers helping children learn, and how new tools might give them more ways to do that.
